The Saix de Miolène Via Ferrata:

  • VF-Terre&Eau-IMG-20181103 (2)-crop

Located on exiting Abondance towards Richebourg with open access, the route is very steep and aerial and 900 metres long. It goes through some wonderful rocky outcrops with a succession of ledges, corners and overhangs.

It has 3 distinct sections: Cabri (AD+), Chamois and Bouquetin (TD), that you can do in succession or individually. The physically demanding passages are mostly in the 2nd and 3rd sections, (for the experienced or supervised by a certified guide). These two sections are closed from 15/3 to 10/ for the peregrine falcons reproduction period.

Route duration: between 3 to 5 hours, 15 mins access. Return time: 30-45 mins.

You must be 1.40m minimum height.

    The Mont Chauffé

The South face on the Abondance side includes 168 routes from 20m to 450m in length on several sectors with difficulty ranging from 4b to 8a. Its limestone provides interesting and practical climbing on single or multi-pitch routes.

The sectors: Piliers, Faille, Plagne du Mont, Raille, Ferraillon, and Traversée.

Access on foot from the Sauvage car park or the Côtes au Mont car park. The first routes can be reached after about a 15-min walk.

The Mont Chauffé ridge traverse is an easy 3a to 3b, yet long, and reserved for experienced climbers.

North Face on the Ubine side: an impressive 400m high perfectly vertical wall. The few routes that remain here are old, austere and without equipment.

The Cercle Sector is a large cliff with high-level routes and recommended for experts only.
